WEST POINT, Miss. (WTVA) -- A man arrested in connection with a weekend shooting in West Point is now out on bond.
According to West Point police, officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Washington Street just after 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 8.
When they arrived, officers say they found a man who appeared to be suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.
Investigators say the man told them an acquaintance came to his home and initiated a disturbance.
The victim, whose name is not being released, told police that during the dispute a gun was displayed and a shot was fired, striking him.
The man also gave police a description of the man and the vehicle he was driving when he fled the scene.
A short time later 26-year-old Dermarius Brown, of West Point, turned him in to authorities without incident.
Brown is charged with one count of aggravated assault and has been released on a $25,000 bond.
