CHOCTAW COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA) - Eupora Fire Department officials said the cause of the Sept. 7th sawmill fire in Choctaw County has not been determined.

Fire scene commander Richard Love said, to his knowledge, there wasn't an investigation.

He said they believe it was caused by extreme heat during the day.

Fire officials responded to the call around 10:30 Saturday night at Smith's Sawmill on LaGrange Road and Hwy 9.

After hours of fighting the flames, officials believed they had controlled the fire, but heavy winds early Sunday morning rekindled the flames, prompting fire fighters to return to the scene.

Love said there were no damages and no injuries.

There was also no monetary loss.

Love said the owner of Smith's Sawmill is treating the firefighters to a fish dinner for his appreciation.
