MDEQ awards grants to area governments

JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) -- The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality has awarded grants to counties and cities.

Oktibbeha County will receive $16,884 that will be used by the county for enforcement efforts and clean up regarding illegal dumps.

Benton County will receive $10,988 that will be used to clean up illegal dumps.

The Town of Weir was awarded $6,300 to be used for wood recycling efforts.

The funding comes from the Solid Waste Assistance Grant program.
