Grants for illegal dumpsite cleanup, hazardous waste

JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) -- The Mississippi Department of Evironmental Quality is working with three north Mississippi counties to clean up illegal dumpsites and with household hazardous waste collection.

The money was awarded to Benton, Choctaw and Grenada County on Monday.

Benton County will receive $9,840 to assist with the clean up of illegal dumpsites.

Choctaw County will get $10,800 to use for enforcement of illegal dumping laws.

The city of Grenada will receive $25,000 for the cleanup of illegal dumpsites and the collection of household hazardous waste.

Grenada County will get $8,437 for illegal dumpsite cleanup.

The money comes from MDEQ's Solid Waste Assistance Grant program.
