HOUSTON, Miss. (WTVA) -- The Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors voted not to reappoint the board attorney during its meeting Monday morning.

The board voted to replace Elizabeth Fox Ausbern.

Supervisors then named Gary Carnathan as the interim board attorney.

A motion was made to remove Ausbern and the vote was taken without discussion.

Supervisors had moved their regular meeting from 10 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. because they were leaving to attend the Mississippi Association of Supervisors Mid Winter Conference in Jackson.

When contacted by WTVA.com, Ausbern would not comment on today's action, but says she was asked by the board to resign at an earlier meeting.

Ausbern had served as board attorney since 2010.
