Statue honors fallen firefighter

OKOLONA, Miss. (WTVA) -- After 32 years, an Okolona firefighter is remembered for his braverey and courage.

Saturday the Okolona Fire Department erected a statue in Archie Carouthers' honor.

Carouthers was a firefighter who was killed in the line of duty in 1982.

Okolona Fire Chief Terry Tucker said the statue is important for those who have lost their lives while in the line of duty.
 
Tucker adds that the monument will bear the names of others who may lose there lives while on the extremely dangerous job.
