OKOLONA, Miss. (WTVA) — A local non-profit celebrated its 10-year anniversary Saturday.

Baby Steps in Okolona invited people in the community to help them celebrate.

They had a barbecue and other activities like face painting and educational sessions.

Baby Steps provides support to parents and helps them raise their young children from birth all the way up to age eight.

The center does that by working with day cares and the Okolona School System.

Baby Steps was founded in 2003.

Since then, the staff says it has been working to carry on the message of its founder.

"I think it means that we're here to stay," Interim Executive Director Aisha Goens said. "To be here 10 years is really an acomplishment for any organization be it a corporation, or small business, or a non-profit. So, I think it shows that there is a lot of support both financially and for the community to come out."
