HOUSTON, Miss. (WTVA) - With the perfect weather outside what better way to spend a Saturday afternoon outdoors listening to live music.

That's what some people did at Houston's Joe Brigance Park.

Chickasaw County native and professional musician Jermaine Morgan held a free concert.

Several local musicians performed on stage to entertain the crowd.

Another purpose was to bring the community together and to inspire kids who like music to pursue their dreams.

"I am just trying to you know kind of educate the community about the instrumental music portion of it because there are a lot of kids here who love music, who love to play music, but don't really have a lot of outlets," adds Jermaine Morgan, musician. "[Many] are not able to really see alot of instrumental performances."

Organizers say they have plans of turning the Chickasaw County Instrumental Music Festival into an annual event.
