Chickasaw County gets cash for dump site cleanup

JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) -- Chickasaw County will receive assistance to hire a solid waste enforcement officer and clean up illegal dump sites.

The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality awarded the county a $42,000 grant.

The officer will be responsible to work with cities and the county to locate and identify areas for cleanup.

The job also involves community education programs to get residents involved in proper disposal of solid waste.

MDEQ is providing the grant through the Solid Waste Assistance Grant program.
