OKOLONA, Miss. (WTVA) -- The city of Okolona has been placed under a boil water notice.

The Mississippi State Department of Health issued the alert for the water system's 3,050 customers after samples show the presence of coliform bacteria in the drinking water.

Health officials say the water should be boiled for at least one minute before it is consumed.

Officials say the notice remains in effect until the city is notified it has been lifted.
