CALHOUN COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA) -- Officials at the Calhoun County Courthouse closed the building Wednesday afternoon after someone called in a threat to the building.
Sheriff Greg Pollan says nothing was found following a search of the building, but the courthouse will not reopen until 8 a.m. Thursday morning.
Officials also confirm to WTVA News the Lowndes County, Lee County, Itawamba County, and Clay County courthouses were evacuated after threats were received there as well.
Itawamba County Sheriff Chris Dickinson says the circuit clerk's office received a recorded message stating explosives were in the building.
He says the courthouse and the court square are closed while deputies search the building.
Officials with MEMA say there are threats in at least 20 counties.
The Mississippi Department of Homeland Security and FBI are investigating.
