CALHOUN COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA) -- Authorities say a man involved in a high-speed chase through Calhoun County Saturday evening remains at large.
Derma Police Department Patrol Officer Charles Jackson said he stopped the individual at approximately 3 p.m. because of a moving violation.
Jackson said the man sped off before police could make contact with him. The chase continued through Calhoun City.
Police worked with the neighboring Grenada County Sheriff's Department to put down spike strips on Highway 8, but the suspect drove off the road before reaching those strips.
After the suspect's vehicle hit a ditch, Jackson said the man escaped on foot.
Authorities do not believe the man is armed. Marijuana and pills were found in the vehicle by police after the chase.
The suspect's name has not been released because Jackson said he still hasn't been identified.
