PONTOTOC COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA) -- A boil water notice was issued for several residents in Pontotoc County on Friday.

Health officials said customers who receive their water from Mt. Comfort Water Association - Sarepta out of Calhoun County should boil water for one minute before consuming.

The notice affects approximately 150 customers on Hwy 9 North at the Pontotoc County line, including the Sarepta and Robbs communities.

Water system officials notified the Mississippi State Department of Health of a pressure loss due to one or more line breaks, which can cause contaminant to siphon back into the water.

Public health officials consider any system that loses pressure contaminated until tests prove otherwise.

Officials said the water system will be notified when tests show that the water is safe to drink.
