TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) — The National Weather Service has updated the winter weather forecast.

Meteorologist Matt Laubhan says snow, sleet, ice and rain are all possible.

Laubhan encourages people to over prepare for this event even though there is still some uncertainty as to the track of the winter storm.

Meteorologist Kara James added the Golden Triangle is likely to see more ice than snow.  Others outside of the Golden Triangle region are more likely to see snow.

However, the overall area is expected to receive a wintry mix.

Meteorologists say the precipitation should continue through noon Tuesday.

Laubhan says it's possible the storm could cause slippery roads, especially if there's more ice.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 6 p.m. tonight to noon tomorrow for Montgomery, Webster, Clay, Lowndes, Oktibbeha and Choctaw counties.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the rest of the viewing area except Tishomingo, Alcorn, Prentiss and Tippah counties for the same time period.
