ABERDEEN, Miss. (WTVA) - WTVA News has learned Friday afternoon that the remains of a person found in Monroe County are of a female.
Officials say the remains have been sent to Jackson for an autopsy.
And, authorities say they hope to have preliminary results possibly on Saturday.
WTVA reporter Wayne Hereford reported on Friday that an area around what is called Peacock Alley was sectioned off, and that it is the area where the remains were found.
According to Monroe County Coroner Alan Gurley, the remains were found on Friday around 11 a.m.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation was on the scene and is conducting an investigation along with local authorities.
We are told that the identity of the remains will not be identified until after crime scene investigators make a determination.
