WEST POINT, Miss (WTVA) -- An overnight house fire three miles north of West Point has left two people dead.

Clay County Coroner Alvin Carter tells WTVA that Alvin Tallie Sr. and Fetenia Tallie died in the fire.

The fire was called into 9-1-1 around 11 p.m. Thursday night.

Three adults and one child were in the home when the fire started.

Bobby Joe Tallie and the child escaped the fire.

The child was unharmed, but Tallie was carried to the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo for treatment of cuts and burns.

Four volunteer fire departments fought the fire.

They say the home on Dr Sears Road is total loss.

Carter says the fire marshal will be on the scene Friday.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
