OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) -- An elderly Oxford woman has been found and appears to be in good condition after being reported missing by her family members Friday afternoon, according to authorities.

Lafayette County Sheriff's Department Investigator Jarrett Bundren says Mabel Pettis, 82, was located Saturday evening on County Road 327 in the Burgess community.

He said it appeared she was trying to turn her vehicle around and got stuck in a ditch.

She has been taken to a local hospital as a precaution, he said.

Pettis had last been seen around 3 p.m. Friday at a grocery store in the city.

Bundren said the disappearance concerned her family and law enforcement because Pettis is in the early stages of dementia.
