TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) -- A small aircraft made a crash landing mere feet from the runway of the Tupelo Regional Airport Saturday afternoon.
City communications director Sarah Robinson said at 1:10 p.m., the Beechcraft plane appeared to land short in the Tupelo Buffalo Park, then hit the fence.
The craft bounced in the road and landed on the airport property afterward.
Robinson said the pilot, identified as Fred Newman Jr. of Columbus, was able to walk away from the scene and was transported by ambulance to North Mississippi Medical Center.
No one was killed in the crash.
Airport executive director Joshua Abramson said Tupelo Aircraft Rescue was first to arrive on the scene.
He said the National Transportation Safety Board has been notified and the plane was cleared for towing.
