RIENZI, Miss. (WTVA) -- Overlooking what used to be the original Tishomingo County is the old Jacinto Courthouse.

It is the setting for the local Fourth of July celebration.

"We just enjoy this celebration down here and glad to come and glad we live in a free country," Ralph Coln said.

"I love to see the families out with the kids. This is a special day and it's a day of coming together," Corinth Mayor Tommy Irwin said.

This is an opportunity for politicians to reach out to their constituents.

"It's vital that I come back home and listen to what is on people's minds. Right now everybody is taking about Obamacare," Rep. Alan Nunnelee said.

"It allows your kids to get used to the election process of listening to the speakers and making decisions on what they would need to choose," Lisa Jones said.

"Oh well, you get to meet a lot of officials, representatives and you get to meet old acquaintances and friends you haven't seen in a long time," Rabon Childs said.
