TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) -- A Tennessee man has pleaded guilty to burglaries in Alcorn and Lee County.

Clifton Mitchell. 53, pleaded guilty to six counts of burglary in Lee County Circuit Court on Thursday.

Mitchell was among four people arrested in March of this year by Tupelo police following a report of several burglaries in the area.

At the time of the arrests, authorities say they recovered thousands of dollars in cash taken during the breakins.

Authorities say Mitchell was the ringleader of the group.

He was sentenced to 17 years in prison following his guilty plea.

Mitchell is currently being held in the Lee County Jail until he is turned over to the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

Authorities say he still faces charges in Desoto County and in Tennessee.
