CORINTH, Miss. (WTVA) -- A Corinth man has pleaded guilty to second degree murder in the shooting death of a woman nearly one year ago.

Demarlen Davis, 26, entered a guilty plea Monday in Alcorn County Circuit Court to the shooting death of Karson Stewart, 22, of Corinth.

Stewart was shot in the face while sitting in her car on Martin Luther King Drive and later died at the hospital on March 26, 2013.

Davis was standing next to the car when Corinth police officers arrived and was taken into custody.

He also pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Davis has been sentenced to 40 years in prison.
