MHP investigates early morning crash

ALCORN CO., Miss. (WTVA) -- The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating a car accident that happened Friday morning on Highway 45 at the Rienzi Crossing in Alcorn County.

Troopers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 6:15 a.m.

Upon arriving, it appeared Joshua Jacobs, 24, of Booneville, was traveling west bound on Highway 356, driving a 1999 International bob-truck, and was attempting to cross Highway 45.

Apparently Jacobs pulled into the path of a north bound, 2001 Dodge Ram, driven by Sammy McCurry, 46, of Pontotoc.

Jacobs was not injured in the crash.

McCurry was transported to Magnolia Hospital in Corinth with minor injuries.

McCurry was wearing a seatbelt.

Two passengers in McCurry's vehicle was also injured.

One of the passengers were transported to Magnolia Hospital in Corinth with moderate injuries, the other was air-lifted to the MED in Memphis with serious injuries.

Neither passenger in McCurry's vehice was wearing a seatbelt.
