CORINTH, Miss. (WTVA) — Have you had your flu shot? That's a question being asked of all employees at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth.

Hospital Vice President of Human Resources Regina Brown tells WTVA they have four confirmed positive cases of flu.

The hospital is not only vaccinating employees who are willing, they also travel to area industries where the shot is offered almost at cost.

The hospital offers the trivalent vaccine which covers two strands of the a virus and one b strand.

"The way the flu virus changes there is no way to fully protect every strand, but the more strands you protect yourself against, the less likely you are to get the flu," Employee Health Nurse Marla Southern said.

Beginning next year, vaccination for the flu virus will be mandatory for employment at the hospital.

That's based on a recommendation by the medical staff.

On a final note, there is also a quadrivalent flu shot available which covers four strands of the virus.

It is not offered at Magnolia Regional Health Center.
