JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) -- An Alcorn County man has lost his attempt to have his guilty plea and sentence overturned in a burglary of a dwelling with the intent to commit robbery, rape, and sexual battery case.
Larry R. Wilbanks, 46, was sentenced to 160 years in prison after pleading guilty to the charges in April of 2005.
Authorities say he broke into the home of a woman over the age of 65.
The charges were enhanced because of the age of the victim.
Wilbanks waived his right to a jury hearing to determine his sentence and a judge handed down the prison terms.
He later appealed, claiming he didn't voluntarily enter the plea, his confession to authorities was coerced and should have been supressed, he was given an illegal sentence, and he didn't receive effective counsel.
On Tuesday, the Mississippi Court of Appeals rejected his claims.
