UPDATE: Starkville suspect tries to escape from jail

A man charged with two counts of attempting kidnapping faces more charges after he tried to escape from jail.

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) - A man charged with two counts of attempting kidnapping faces more charges after he tried to escape from jail. 

Investigator Brett Watson with the Oktibbeha County Sheriff's says John Arnold, Jr., tried to escape from the Oktibbeha County jail Tuesday sometime near 3:30 p.m. 

Watson says the incident happened in the exercise yard of the jail. Arnold is then accused of attacking a jailer, who was later able to subdue him. 

Arnold is now in isolation facing escape attempt and assault on a corrections officer charges.  

Arnold was originally being held for two counts of attempted kidnapping. He was the subject of a manhunt on February 23.

His bond was set at $10 million. 

Watson says Arnold will go before a judge hopefully within 48 hours.
