JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - The Mississippi Department of Education announced Wednesday members of a task force team which aims to determine best practices for student testing on the state and local levels.

The Mississippi Student Testing Task Force will discuss student assessments with the goals of determing the types, quality and amount of tests students take on the state and district leve and making recommendations on way to ensure student testing is streamlined but measures the learning goals designed by Mississippi teachers.

Also, MDE says high school students, who will be seniors in the fall, have an opportunity to apply to be a member of the task force. Four students, one from each congressional district, will be selected to represent their peers in discussions about how to ensure the state prepares them for college, the work force or the military.
