Former ICC star named SWAC Player of the Year

The honor was announced by SWAC officials Monday.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WTVA) -- Former ICC basketball star Martaveous McKnight has been named the Southwestern Athletic Conference Player of the Year.

McKnight, a guard at Arkansas-Pine Bluff, averaged 18.5 points per game in leading the Golden Lions to a 12-win season.

He ranked in the top-10 in several other categories in the SWAC.

McKnight was also named the SWAC Newcomer of the Year.

Grambling State coach Donte' Jackson was named coach of the year.
