JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood says 32 people were arrested in the state from March through May in a national crackdown on internet crimes against children.

Hood says in a news release that the national effort is called Operation Broken Heart.

It targeted people suspected of producing, distributing, receiving and possessing child pornography. It also targeted those suspected of enticing children online for sexual purposes, engaging in sex trafficking of children and traveling across state lines or to other countries to sexually abuse children.

In the news release Tuesday, Hood said investigators identified 383 children who had been victims. He says partnerships between federal, state and local law enforcement agencies are critical to putting predators in prison.
