Firefighters showed up at the Western Inn and Suites at Highway 8 and Highway 15 after 5:30 a.m.  Someone passing by noticed smoke coming from the building and reported it.

Fire Chief Jonathan Blankenship says no one was staying at the motel at the time of the fire because of a water issue earlier this week.

Blankenship says he doesn't know what caused the fire but it is believed to have started in the office area.

No injuries were reported.
