Robert Byers
Robert Byers
Anchor/Reporter
rbyers@wtva.com
Originally from North Mississippi, Robert first worked for WTVA from 1993–1999. After a year and a half as a news producer in Memphis, Tennessee, he rejoined WTVA in 2000 as a reporter and anchor.
Robert worked in the early 1990's in Greenville, Mississippi, as a reporter, an anchor, and even a weatherman. He is a graduate of both Northeast Mississippi Community College and the University of Mississippi.
His journalism professor at Ole Miss, the late Dr. Jim Pratt, once told him a career in news would provide the opportunity to experience people, places, and events like no other job. Dr. Pratt's words have not failed him!
In covering stories, Robert has met many interesting people in Mississippi and Alabama. He has interviewed national politicians, movie and television stars, and other prominent newsmakers who have visited the area.
Perhaps his most exciting assignment was in October, 2003, when he visited Dresden, Germany, to preview the Jackson, Mississippi, art exhibition entitled "The Glory of Baroque Dresden".
Whatever his next assignment is, he hopes viewers find it interesting!
